Seriously?

Apparently, some people take this blog of mine seriously. The other day, for example, a reader accused me of not living up to something I wrote and basically called me a hypocrite.

Listen, writers are illusionists. In the moment, we might be very sincere about something, but that doesn’t make it the new King James bible. In fact, someone told me a long time ago – shout out what you believe on a Monday from the mountain top. And if you believe something different on Tuesday, shout that!

As much as I may try to get it right, I probably am missing something important every time. I’m doing my best in the moment, of course, but I’m still learning every day that there’s so much I really don’t know. Such is life.

So, if you’re reading this hoping for my essential truth, you’re only going to find my version of it for this day in 2025. I believe this is true for all of us. We’re all a bunch of bozos on the bus.

So, to the reader who is disappointed in me I say what one of my teachers said about Buddhism, “Don’t believe anything unless you find it’s true for you and then keep wondering if it’s still true.”

My blog is about me, yes, but my intention is to make it about us.

There is no perfect anything that everyone agrees on. The only constant is change. And please remember that you are reading the ramblings of a silly fool who’s trying to clap with one hand most of the time.

Have fun. It’s a short trip.
