Want to make God laugh?
Our plan was to leave eastern Pennsylvania this morning. To be extra safe, we stopped at a local RV repair shop to have our hitch serviced and pick up a few camping items. While there, the head mechanic said, “Just so you know, your truck is leaking transmission fluid.”
Uh,oh.
I phoned our local mechanic and he said, “Get it checked out. Don’t go anywhere. You’re lucky it happened there instead of in the middle of nowhere. And call me if you need advice or moral support.”
Long story short, we are staying at a beautiful hotel in Glen Mills, PA for the next four days until the parts arrive to fix our trusty, somewhat rusty truck.
Surprisingly, I am not angry. Sure, I had my moment when we were leaving the second auto repair shop that couldn’t help us. I think my words were, “Fuck! Fuck! Fuck! More time and more money! Fuck! Fuck! Fuck!”
But here’s the deal: the people here are very, very happy to be of service. When we finally got the news from a great mechanic that we were temporarily stranded, the news and the potential financial hit were all clearly explained. They even had a great idea for a local hotel around the corner with a full kitchen, pool and lots of nearby shopping.
So, instead of driving hundreds of miles across Pennsylvania on the way to Indiana this weekend, God has created another plan. We canceled campground reservations through Monday and we will make new ones once we take a look at the new reality. It’s all good. We’ll get where we are intended to be.
With Beth’s permission, we are naming our trip – The Beams of Positivity Tour.
Here’s how we got the name…
We met a painter on the beach one morning and he said, “Did you see that woman I was just talking to” He pointed to a brightly dressed older woman near the water. “She was my teacher in high school. That woman has beams of positivity inside of her.”
The name fits our intentions for the trip – to be positive, to find it in others and to soak it up wherever we go.
