Today, we had lunch with Bob and Marie, Beth’s sister and brother in law in KOP (that’s the cool new name for King of Prussia, PA).
Driving through the city and taking in the people, the cars and the stores, I noticed that KOP has become much more upscale, so much so that I think people knew I was wearing a shirt from Walmart.
It’s funny to watch myself react emotionally to the difference between upscale neighborhoods and middle class ones. Although I was brought up in a somewhat snooty part of Westchester, NY, everywhere I have lived since then has been much more chill. I suppose I have become reverse snooty, preferrring and environments that don’t scream out, “I’m expensive and I’m worth it!”
Anyway – I’m going to jump from my judgment back to some more positive vibes…
It was really enjoyable to be with Bob and Marie, today. It reaffirmed my preference for being with a small group of people where everyone can be heard. I think it’s easier for my central nervous system, too. I can be with large groups, but fewer is better. As my friend Bill has said, “I prefer soul talk to small talk.” I think that’s more likely in small groups.
But now for some exciting news…
Tonight is laundry night, again!
We just shared some of our laundry detergent sheets with a woman who wasn’t having good luck with the vending machine. Beth loves the ease of traveling with these sheets instead of heavier detergents.
I think we will pick up some food after this and make it an early night.
