We have left LBI after 17 days of work and play. We were glad to arrive and happy to leave.
Our youngest daughter once shared her thought about traveling momentum. The longer one stays in one place, the harder it becomes to detach and move onward. It’s natural for us humans to start laying down roots, but that’s not the way of the traveler.
From here on, the longest stay we have in one place is in Moab, Utah. The rest of our stops are 1-4 days each at 33 different campgrounds. Wow!
And so, this morning, we reattached our cozy home to our trusty truck and detached from our LBI friends.
The first hours of our trip took us past the outskirts of Philadelphia and to a small, wooded campground 45 minutes west of Beth’s hometown. It’s quiet here because most of the campers are local, full timers who won’t be here until the weekend.
After setup, we drove to our nephew’s home. He’s allowed us to store our sound equipment in his garage so that we can lessen the weight we’re taking with us on our trip. The three of us then joined up with other members of Beth’s family for an Italian dinner. It was good to see them, have some laughs and receive their blessings for a good trip.
We’ve received a lot of blessings, good wishes and prayers for our enjoyment and safety these last couple of days. It reminds me of the folks who accompanied a departing friend or family member to a ship leaving on a long journey. Everyone gathers, waves, sheds a few tears and hopes it all goes well. It’s very sweet and it’s appreciated.
