Booking Boomlette

When the pandemic hit in March 2020, we had a fully booked April ahead of us, all of which was canceled. Now, thankfully, our business is coming back and for that, I’m very grateful.

We are reshaping the types of programs we offer. We continue to do school assemblies, of course, but we’ve slimmed down the number of them and will likely continue to do so.

Our preference is to offer classroom-based programs in songwriting and mindfulness, so we’re negotiating with districts who are interested in these long-term residency programs. Our belief is that classroom-based programs offer a greater opportunity for students and teachers to receive tangible, useful benefits from working with Teaching Artists. The kids also get much more individual attention!

Programs include the John Lennon Real Love Program for Public Schools, a free history lesson + songwriting workshop offered to schools in need. In this program, kids learn about Lennon and rewrite his song, Real Love. At the end, they get to duet with John Lennon using his original vocal and piano track! We are very fortunate to be the only ones who can do this thanks to the generosity of Yoko Ono and our partners, Theatre Within.

Speaking of John Lennon, we are looking forward to attending the 42nd Annual John Lennon Tribute on October 8, 2022 at Symphony Space in NYC. This year, Joan Osborne is being honored, but the highlight of the evening will certainly be the music – offered by Osborne and dozens of top-notch performers who love Lennon and his music.

Prior to that event, Beth and I will be facilitating two nights of songwriting in Lennon’s name at Covenant House, a wonderful facility that offers programs for homeless and trafficked youth. We are thrilled and honored to be the first songwriting team representing Theatre Within to be invited to write songs with these at-risk kids. My hope is that we’ll be able to use songwriting to honor their ideas and teach them the value of collaboration. Thank you in advance to Covenant House for hosting us!

If you want to make a donation to Theatre Within, Covenant House or attend the 42nd Annual Tribute Concert, please follow the links above. All of these organizations and events can use the support of individuals, companies and others who believe in the power of music.
