Scott:
Today (Wednesday), we board a Norse Atlantic Airways flight to Greece at 1pm, so by the time you read this we’d be there!
Beth and I are leaving one hot place (New York) and arriving at one even hotter (Athens) with lots of light clothing and a mixture of curiosity, excitement and fear. We touch down at 5:35am and begin a a 17-day retreat-vacation that concludes on July 12.
I haven’t written in this space for awhile. I guess the main reason is that we stopped traveling after our trip to Sedona in January. The kind of travel that fueled this blog were put on pause while we dug into our work-life balance in Sullivan County, NY. Plus, I had little to report that was new. (Longtime readers know my mind like a well-used map.)
Though we remain essentially the same, I sense a new wind has begun to blow. So, stay with me, friends, as I raise the sail and head towards the Mediterranean!
Beth:
We are at JFK, settled into seats at the gate and awaiting our boarding time. Often, in the past, I would have felt flummoxed and stressed at this point ; a result of infrequent air travel and dealing with the confusion of parking, airport navigation, check in and security. Like most things, practice makes better.
These things are becoming more familiar and easeful. Scott and I work well together and tick off each of these as a phase completed. Packed and out the door- phase 1. Drive to the airport and parking the car- phase 2, etc. This breaks it down to manageable chunks. It leaves me calmer.
I do feel myself holding back a bit of excitement, like I could set unreasonable expectations. However, reading up on Athens some more, I do think this will be a dream fulfilled. I remember why I chose it. The history, the beauty, the warmth and passion of the people, the food! Ok, excitement is building. Greece, here we come!
