Hiking and Singing Again

This morning we had an extra few hours, so we took an unplanned excursion to Minnewaska State Park, a lovely spot in the Shawangunk Mountains about 40 minutes from our campground. Once there, we enjoyed a 2.5 mile hike alongside a beautiful lake and a sea of lush, green ferns – just the right way to begin our last full day here.

Our friends, Joe and Lisa, introduced us to this park a couple of years ago and it’s a shame we didn’t plan ahead to meet them for an encore visit. Such is the case when one is living in the moment!

Returning to the campground, we made lunch and then went our separate ways. Beth had Zoom meetings and phone calls while I had urgent business at the pool. (Well, someone has to recreate around here!) Arriving at the pool, I saw three of my new friends lounging on rafts. Like me, they were taking their lack of work seriously.

I’m glad to have spent the day relaxing because tomorrow we leave early in the morning for Westchester. We are scheduled for two days of concerts in Scarsdale and Granite Springs, NY. The highlight will be our annual visit to Summer Trails Day Camp and a subsequent lunch with our longtime clients, Dave, Anne, and Jamie – former owners and directors of the camp who we are now fortunate to call friends.

The only downside will be the temperature. Both camp shows will be outdoors in 85-95 degree heat. I used to hate these types of shows until Beth said, “you’re just releasing toxins.” Okay, I’ll buy that!
