A friend sent this to me this morning. Often, he and I speak about control and trust, letting go and letting God, etc. This piece feels like it was channeled by Source, so I wanted you to hear it too.
“It is not the gripping tight that saves me, but rather the control I’m trying to exert that seems to balm my heart and soul. Only it doesn’t.
The great lie is that by holding tighter, by not releasing and letting go, I am somehow safer. But it is like capturing and bear-hugging a lion, believing that I can now keep him from biting me. His claws slash and swing wildly, mangling my being. He writhes and twists and growls, for within nature nothing enjoys being controlled. Nothing can be controlled.
Breathe deep, my dear one. And again. Letting go is the only way to peace, not holding tight. Release into the wind your hurts and wishes and dreams and pain. For every wild lion you hold close takes up space that every loving and peaceful thing cannot.
Our true nature demands this, with love. Today, you should, too.
When the way of hope becomes the way of avoidance, you must abandon all hope. You must release the hope that the lion is or one day will be good for you and embrace that this particular lion will devour your true self to keep itself safe. Hold no ill will for the lion, for she is authentically herself. She, too, will need safety. Let go and accept that each of your ways to be safe cannot co-exist today.”
